Forest Is Angry Hard Mode Update Guide
How to Activate Hard Mode
First, you need to find the Research Outpost. It’s a cool building you can see north of where you start your campfire. The outpost is ready from Day 1, but you need campsite level 2 to really use it well.
Walk inside through the steel door on the left side, then go down to the basement where it’s kinda dark and spooky.Look for your own special lever. Every player has their very own one! Pull it before Night 3 starts, or you’ll miss your chance forever in that run.
Once you do that, watch for a fun cutscene after Day 3. It shows the corruption breaking free, and then Rifts start popping up all over the map.
You can also check the screens inside the outpost to see how bad the corruption is getting in your game.
Corruption System Explained
Rifts are like evil holes in the ground that make bad corruption spread to animals, trees, and even the dirt around them.
Your job is to run over to these rifts and fight the corrupted things nearby, like wolves or deer that now look all gross with purple and red glowing colors.
There’s a Corruption Meter that fills up like a progress bar. The more it fills, the worse things get for you.
When it hits certain levels, super bad stuff happens like “Deer Detected” (hungry deer eat your food), “Passive Healing Normal” (your health heals way slower), “Cultist Wave Normal” (extra cultist attacks), or food going rotten with yucky spores.
The good news? You can fight back! Kill those corrupted animals and chop down the purple or red corrupted trees to make the meter go down.
Keep it low, under 50% if you can, so your food stays good to eat and enemies don’t get too strong.
Rifts Mechanics
Rifts are the main bad guys in Hard Mode. They show up all over the map after you turn on the mode, and they make everything around them turn corrupted and dangerous.
These aren’t just pretty lights. Corrupted wolves and deer near them hit you way harder, and the ground might hurt you too if you step wrong.
The trick is to always check your map first. You can make a simple map at your crafting bench using just 3 pieces of wood. Super easy!
Use it to find rifts fast, run there during the day when it’s safe, and clean them up before night comes.
Survival Strategies
Here’s how to not die in Hard Mode. Follow these steps:
Base Prep: Make your campfire the strongest it can be right at the start. Build tall walls with spikes and traps all around it to keep enemies out. Grab tons of fuel like logs, lots of bandages for healing, and a fast gun like a shotgun for quick fights.
Daily Routine: Every morning, look at your map and go straight to the nearest rifts. Fight the bad stuff there first, then chop corrupted trees. They even give you extra wood as a bonus!
Team Play: Good news for friends. There’s a new Ping System in beta! Just press the Q key on your keyboard or tap the ping button if you’re on mobile. It lets you point out dangers, low fire, hunger, or enemy spots so your team knows what to do without talking.
| Feature | Normal Mode | Hard Mode |
| Enemies | Come like usual, not too scary | Turn corrupted, hit super hard and more often |
| Events | Happen sometimes, easy to handle | Come way more and are much stronger |
| Rewards | Regular diamonds for nights | Extra special diamonds if you reach Night 50 or 99 |
| Meter | No meter to worry about | Corruption Meter that gives bad effects if too high |
Rewards and Tips
If you make it to Night 50 or all the way to Night 99 in Hard Mode, you get way more diamonds than normal. Awesome for buying better weapons and armor later.
Stay smart: Pick a character class that’s fast and good at running to rifts, and always eat before corruption gets too high so your food doesn’t rot.
Try playing alone first to learn, then team up. The Ping System is new, so tell the developers what you think. They want your feedback to make it better.
